Goree Island Day Visit

Goree Island has many popular tourist attractions, including the oldest church of Senegal - Saint Charles Borromée, many museums (such as the Musée de la Femme, Musée de la Mer and Musée Historique), Fort d'Estrée, Théâtre de verdure and Université des mutants, among others. But the one the main point of interest in Goree is the architecture of the buildings and the colours used to paint them, giving the streets a very pleasant look. These paved and sandy streets are very inviting to wander on.

Each traveller registering with us for this tour will have to pay a 5% participation fee (included in the price) to the island association which:

- Trains young people of the island to become professional guides, thus helping local people to benefit from tourism income

- teach them how to be aware of their tragic history in order to raise a collective positive memory. The motto could be translated to "We need to remember, we need to forgive"

- teaches every island inhabitant proper ways of treating waste; Goree Island is the cleanest destination in Senegal and to spread awareness about not throwing any litter on the streets.
