Getting there (local language)

Place de L'independance prendre l'avenue Roume, puis la troisième rue à droite : c'est la rue Jules Ferry. L'hôtel Al Afifa est situé 50m plus loin sur la gauche.

Getting there

From Independence Square, take the top-right road, Avenue Roume. Rue Jules Ferry is the third street on your right, and Hotel Al Afifa is just 50 m further. To reach Independence Square, just ask any taxi driver for Place de l'Independence (pronounce "plaas deuh laindeh pandance"). If you drive there from the port, go to the round circle in front of the train station, take the uphill road (100 m), then turn left. Take the fourth street on your right, and 150 m further you will be on Independence Square, right in front of the hotel. If you drive there from the airport, you have two options. To get there faster, take the highway. Leave the airport taking the road to the right, bordering Yoff village and pass under the VDN Bridge. Pass the international stadium on your left, and you will arrive at the highway crossroads called Patte d'Oie. Take the right lane and follow the Dakar direction signs. At the end of the highway, go straight on the small bridge and 50 m further, take the avenue on your right, Lamine Gueye, and go straight until you see a gas station on your left. This is the crossroad with Avenue Faidherbe. Take it to your left. Follow this road and then take the fourth street to your right. 150 m further you will be on Independence Square. The second option is to go via the scenic route and enjoy the views, by taking the ‘Corniche’. Leave the airport by the road to the left. It will run along the sea after 300 m. Keep following it; you will pass Ngor, Almadies, Mamelles Lighthouse, Ouakam, Mermoz, Fann, Soumbedioune, and the Millenium Door. 70% of this road runs along the sea on your right side. After the Millenium Door (A massive square arch with a golden silhouette statue), the road climbs uphill for 200-300 m. At the top, leave the Corniche, by taking the road to the left, Avenue Peytavin. Keep going straight, crossing Avenue Lamine Gueye. After a while, Avenue Peytavin turns into Avenue Pompidou, and then ends on Independence Square.
